Two types of oval
Our goal is to help clients choose the best tubes for every project. One way we do this is by suggesting the right shape to use. However, there can be some confusion when it comes to oval tubing. That is because a lot of people don’t realise there are actually two different types. The shapes are unique so it is important to understand which you need; selecting the wrong type in error could ruin your project.
Elliptical
When most people say oval they will actually mean elliptical. This shape has a continuous curve around the whole circumference. It is a great option for things like handrails and racks because the curve makes the tubing ergonomic.
Flat side
The second option is a flat side oval. Here the curves are at each end of the tube but the sides are both flat, straight lines. As you can see this will be a different shape to a true oval. It does offer a lot of benefits though, including a large volume and being easier to mount.
High quality steel
